Curtain walling for new home

Bespoke glazing for award-winning home

Highgate home maximises light

Very proud of this one!

ODC Glass supplied the full glazing package for this Arts and Crafts style property set in North London’s Highgate Conservation Area, and we’re delighted that it won ‘Best London Home’ at the 2022 Evening Standard New Homes Awards.

This is a meticulously crafted house and a project we were very proud to be part of. Designed by Miltiadou Cook Mitzman architects and built by Octagon Bespoke, the glazing for this 5,300ft2 new build house was all about maximising space and natural light.

We love its combination of textures and materials, and the way it blends contemporary living spaces with architectural features from the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Front elevation – glass to the very top

At the front of the house a wide four panel bay window maximises light to a formal dining room. Set back behind external uprights finished in burnt oak, the first floor bathrooms and staircase have floor to ceiling glazing.

French doors open to a balcony with invisible glass balustrading. On the top floor, under the distinctive double gables, curtain walling with SL320 sliding doors and glass balustrades open the bedrooms to as much light as possible.

Rear elevation – glass, glass and more glass!

The glazing on the ground floor has the wow factor. ODC SL700 sliding doors 12 metres wide open up the open plan living space to the garden. The main bedroom has a set of slimline sliding doors and invisible balustrading while rooms above with less headroom have casement windows set into glass curtain walls.

Clever glazing solutions

The two gable spaces are bridged internally and this clever design has been glazed to maximise light here too. A large fixed bespoke window spans the gable rooms – it’s a glorious solution, and just one aspect of what makes this house an award-winning design.

BESPOKE COLOUR FINISH

Aluminium frames for all glazing on this project were powder-coated in a warm brown-gray, chosen to harmonise with the wood and red brick facade, and a subtle alternative to our standard, popular Anthracite Grey.
