This carefully considered extension of a period home in Highgate had to comply with exacting planning requirements. The original lower ground floor area, leading directly to the garden, is now a large open plan kitchen diner, including a comfortable seating area. Two sets of Cero sliding door systems sit either side of the L-shaped space, one with three panels, and two for the narrower width. A fixed panel window sits between the two systems to allow maximum light to flood into the kitchen. Further light is introduced to the space through the large rooflight above the dining table.
The extended ground floor now accommodates a large light family room, with generous picture windows overlooking the garden on two aspects. Directly above this room is the guest bathroom, which has frosted glass on the large feature window, and again an opening window on the adjacent side. The finished project is a beautiful home renovation where the new glazed elements contrast boldly with the existing architecture.
