Black Sliding Doors for new Garden room

This project offers smart design in a compact space: a family garden room gives a new direction for entertaining and hobbies away from the main house. It’s a timber frame building with durable metal roof cladding, external walls finished with black vertical timbers and internal walls lined with cork.

Materials are natural and sustainable to maximise insulation and durability. Outside, a timber pergola and low level brick-lined patio area ensure privacy, with engineering bricks and vertical slatted fencing panels chosen for a distinctly contemporary setting.

Sliding Door Window Design

The high performance ODC SL320 slimline sliding system is not our usual floor to ceiling specification: it has been customised with a height of 1692mm to allow for a low wall and storage/window seat to the interior. It’s a clever use of a sliding system as a window rather than an entrance door.

Black minimal frames and huge uninterrupted glass panes give the garden room a light, contemporary feel. With one large fixed panel 1780mm in width, and a narrower moving panel of 900mm, the slimline system creates a much wider opening to the patio than a conventional window.

The SL320 large sliding doors also have exceptional security ratings and thermal efficiency – an important consideration for a stand-alone building in this context.

Aluminium black patio door and casement windows to match

A fully glazed single door has the same profiles and finish as the black aluminium windows. The rear and side elevations have custom-sized top-hung slimline aluminium casement windows.

In a compact design, slimline frames and glazing uniformity help to create a sense of calm, uncluttered minimalism. We think the clients and their architect have created a brilliant escape space, and one which we’re sure has transformed home life.
