Remodelling a Georgian townhouse in Blackheath
No need for an extension

The internal layout and rear façade of a five-storey semi-detached Georgian townhouse in Blackheath were reconfigured in a dramatic and thoughtful way by Nimtim Architects by following the two principles of ‘doing the most with the least’ and ‘changing only what needed to be changed’. Unlocking unused existing space in the house has given the young family a home design which works much better for their requirements. Two sets of folding doors at the rear of the property and clever window positioning enhance the views onto the garden as well as introducing light into the lower ground floor level. Without adding a rear extension, drastic changes to the home were achieved on a relatively modest budget.
